Twizy numbers grew by 12% over the quarter, but 128% for the year. There were less than 5,000 electric cars registered mid-year, up 80% from the previous year, but still some way to go to meet the government’s 2020 target.

Sorry about the figures - the pasted table didn’t display at all, and I have no idea how to fix that!

Thanks. Is there a link to the source?

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/237361/veh0128.zip

It’s a monster Excel file. Enjoy.

I am afraid a lot of the numbers mean nothing… I know a dealer that has three demo cars registered, just to hit targets.

I believe the numbers are not just registrations they also include SORN figures. Basically they show registration activity for a vehicle type in that period.

I doubt they include SORN, if only because they go down as well as up. There are fewer Tesla Roadster, Renault Fluence, Mega City and G-Wizz, than the previous quarter for example. I have no idea what actually happens to the missing cars - written off or scrapped, I suppose. What the numbers show, I thought, was how many vehicles of that type are were road-registered at the end of each quarter. I don’t think this includes demonstrators that don’t have number-plates. The bottom line (see what I did there) is that there are less than 5,000 EV’s on the road in the UK, and so there’s more than one charge-point each (though it may not be near enough to be useful)!

I looked at the web site linked to in the spreadsheet.
https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-transport/series/vehicle-licensing-statistics

The opening paragraph :-
It presents information on licensed vehicles and new vehicle registrations and covers motor vehicles that were licensed, or were subject to a statutory off-road notification (SORN).

So perhaps I read it wrong.

And here are the latest Vehicle Registration Statistics, published yesterday on the usual site:

So there are now over 5000 EV’s in the UK, and over 369 of them are Twizys! :-)

Surely the 369 is the number of Twizys sold in the 3rd quarter in 2013. Or have I got it wrong.

I’m afraid you have. 369 was, according to the DVLA, the total number of Twizys registered in the UK at the end of Q3. They sold only 22. We are a select bunch.

Wow!! We are a select bunch!!!

Renault publishes their data directly.
http://www.renault.com/fr/finance/chiffres-cles/pages/ventes-mensuelles.aspx
There you get monthly excel files with a special page for twizy. Unfortunately the past half year they are somewhat late with keeping the files up to date, so november is still missing and the october file is not complete.

And I bet they are dealer demo cars… People are just not buying them in the UK
